Free Water Texture and Caustics Tip

My friend Erik Besteman is sharing a nice water texture with us today! A really interesting technique he used is to add this texture into the color channel and also adding some transparency. He then took the texture and put it on a light. I didn’t know you could do that, but it forces the light generate the texture on surfaces which is really cool. In this instance he used this watery texture on the light to throw caustic like shimmering reflections onto the inner surface of a fountain.

Free C4D Model: 1913 Airplane Glider

Kickin it old skool today! We have a sweet free 1913 Glider C4D model made by Chase Canadé! You can check out his stuff here: sites.google.com/site/chasecanade/ I don’t think this is the one flown at Kittyhawk by Orville and Wilbur Wright, but it looks really similar. If you need to illustrate any history of flight, or even history of the world or technology this would be an awesome element to throw into the mix. Thanks Chase for sharing.

Free Cinema 4D Roper Shader

Simon Fiedler, a C4D genius, has a sweet freebie for everyone. It’s a C4D Rope Shader. This is basically a second direction you could go when making ropes. The first is high poly but incredibly awesome by using the free plugin ReeperX: thepixellab.net/c4d-reeperx-rope-generator-plugin

This shader is the second option and is useful if you need ropes but can’t handle the high geometry created by Reeper X. This shader uses displacement to create a rope that appears high res when in fact it is a very low poly object. This can be extremely helpful depending on your scene. Grab it and play around!

Got a new C4D model freebie for you from Remco! I’m not exactly sure how to describe it, I believe it’s a Dresser, a Wooden Drawer Set or a Cabinet. Could be anything. It’s a C4D 3D model of a fancy piece of wooden furniture with drawers for your interior decorating. It also comes with a really nice tiled floor which you could use for tons of stuff.

This one is by “Berd” on vimeo and has a bit of a different look with fatter drops that trail/follow the leader. He created a tutorial on the rig as well as giving away the file so check it out!

Free C4D Plugin: Easy Chesterfield

I found this free Cinema 4D plugin yesterday and wanted to share it with everyone. It’s called Easy Chesterfield and is available for free at c4dzone.com. You have to register for an account there to gain access, but it’s worth the extra steps. The plugin takes any point selection on an object and in one click adds the chesterfield look that you would see on leather couches and furniture. It’s a great way to add some detail to interior scenes. Enjoy!
